Breakfast Bread Lasagna Recipe step by step

Ingredients

For the White Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • ½ tablespoon chicken powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

For the Vegetable Sauce:

  • 1-2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ¾ cup boiled corn kernels
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • ¾ cup chopped capsicum
  • 1 cup chopped chicken sausages
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red chili
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder (or to taste)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried oregano
  • ½ cup tomato ketchup

For the Egg Mixture:

  • 5-6 eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red chili
  • ¼ cup milk

For Assembling:

  • Prepared white sauce
  • 8 slices of bread
  • Prepared vegetable sauce
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • Grated mozzarella cheese

Directions

Prepare the White Sauce:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the cooking oil and whisk in the all-purpose flour until smooth.
  2. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously for about 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in salt, black pepper powder, chicken powder, and dried oregano, cooking until the sauce thickens. Set aside.

Prepare the Vegetable Sauce:

  1. In a frying pan, heat cooking oil and sauté the garlic until golden.
  2. Add the chopped onion, corn, tomatoes, capsicum, and chicken sausages. Mix well.
  3. Season with salt, crushed red chili, red chili powder, and dried oregano. Cook on high heat for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the tomato ketchup and set aside.

Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  1. In a jug, whisk together the eggs, salt, black pepper powder, crushed red chili, and milk until well combined. Set aside.

Assembling the Lasagna:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the prepared white sauce.
  3. Add a layer of bread slices followed by the vegetable sauce, more white sauce, and a sprinkle of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat the layering process with more bread, red sauce, white sauce, and cheeses until all ingredients are used.
  5. Pour the prepared egg mixture over the top, ensuring it soaks into the layers.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, cut into slices, and serve!
